Ye Olde Oil

Newsletter of the Rotary Club of St. Matthews

Date:                           June 6, 2007

Location:                    Breckenridge Inn

Time:                          Wednesday at Noon

 Call To Order:

President Marty Koetters opened the meeting and Robert Burns led us in the prayer and the pledge.

Visiting Rotarians & Guests:

Bull made the introduction of Dave Luckett from Downtown, our only visiting Rotarian.

Door Prizes:

Tim Holland won a sleeve of golf balls.

No one acknowledged having the “winning ticket” for the coffee mug.

A big “Thank You” to D. A. for providing 2 tickets for the Churchill Downs meeting on Wednesday.  It was pointed out that this may have been the first time D. A. gave a prize before its expiration.

Happy Bucks:

Tony Bellucci donated a buck for his old baseball team, U of L, for the success they are having in the NCAA finals. GO CARDS!

Mike [Fieldmouse] Feldhaus  contributed a hard earned buck for his great success at Seneca GC with 85 on Friday and 86 on Sunday.

David Willey gave a buck because someone took his badge. Further investigation revealed that Bert Trompeter had it. It was ruled by Cliff Travis, Finemaster, That bert owed a buck due to identity theft and something about a compound felony.

Skin flints Marty Koetters and Tim Holland split the buck between them to tell a story about the Girl Scout Golf Outing which they almost won until all the score cards were turned in. [Seems they were 3rd for a very short period of time.]

Hugh Kettering gave a buck for his grandson who recently graduated and is going to Furman in the fall.

Finemaster

Cliff fined Louise Edelen for her photo which was recently found in a local newspaper. Louis immediately voiced a very strong protest!  It was pointed out by The Finemaster that Louise was pictured in “her other outfit”.

Jay Wissing and Cliff were fined for having appeared in the SMABA newsletter.

Announcements:

June 22 – July 12 The Senior Olympics will be in town. Any one interested in volunteering for this event let “Rhode Island Ted” know and he will get you in touch with the right people.

July 19th [Monday] is the Salvation Army Golf Outing at The Cardinal Club. Let D. A. know if you are interested in playing.

July 18th [Wednesday] our previous member Karen Adams Gott will be visiting.

June 13th is Monthly Board of Directors Meeting at 7:00AM at Jay Wissing’s office.

June 10th [Sunday] is the SMABA sponsored St. Matthews Community Festival in Brown Park from Noon – 6PM. This is a great outing for children and grandchildren.

June 9th is the Garage Sale to benefit Rotary Club of St. Matthews Charitable Foundation.  Bring your valued stuff to David Willey’s house and be sure it is marked as to selling price and if you want unsold items returned. If you do not want the item(s) back, our overly fined 1-800-gotjunk member [this is a non-finable statement] will haul it away.  Thanks also to Judy Mayfield for her leadership on this important project.

Louise, when asked to show her tattoo, said that she does not have one yet. Hmmm?

King of Clubs

$5.00 was the haul but this scribe failed to record the winner. BUT the King of Clubs is still in play for next time.

Future Speakers

June 13th - Dr. D. Bauer, Bellarmine University

June 20th – Mack Wall, KET

June 27th – Annual Dinner, Big Spring CC
